The defendant confessed to 17 criminal counts at the judicial center on Friday

An individual who spiked treats with sedative and distributed them to youngsters at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offences against two boys who were nine and ten years old.

The defendant was taken into custody after eight minors and one adult became sick at the location in mid-summer.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at the courthouse on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he disputed a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was concerning a young boy.

The accused was held in detention ahead of a subsequent court date on November 28th.

'Treat game'

The prosecutor, presenting evidence, described the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She explained his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a youth camp which he operated.

The man conducted a "sweet game" with the minors, the prosecutor said, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".

She told the court Ruben had engaged in this activity with the boys "over an extended period", and youngsters had previously become sick the next day.

She stated the defendant had been able to explain this over a long period as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had concerns in recently.

The prosecutor stated further: "This year his stepchild had suspicions about the situation, justifiably.

"They decided to have a look in the individual's items."

The legal counsel stated items including lubricant, ointment and medical needles were located, and his family member alerted the police about his suspicions.

She said the defendant continued to engage in the "sweet game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.

"Authorities" had not responded by that stage," she stated further.

The oversight body, the police conduct office, previously told that it was examining the police response of the incident.

The prosecutor stated the minors were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson contacted the law enforcement once more.

She explained the defendant then engaged in the "sweet game" in a room of five minors.
