The safety agency has said it is investigating the plane’s maintenance history, which was in Texas for maintenance weeks prior to the accident.

Flight tracking data revealed the plane was on the ground in San Antonio, Texas from 3 September to mid-October.

“We are aware that this aircraft was there in that city,” said an NTSB member on Thursday, without a precise date range. “We will look at each aspect of service that was completed, including the San Antonio period, all the way to the date of the journey.”

Findings of Key Components

The cockpit voice recorder and data recorder were recovered, and the power plant was found on the tarmac.

The recorders – referred to as black boxes – were designed to survive accident forces and extreme temperatures from fires, and they appeared to be undamaged when located amid the wreckage. Authorities intend to reviewing data from the devices.

Jet’s last flight details indicated an height of 475 feet and a speed of 210 miles per hour before the impact.

Headquartered in Singapore ST Engineering, which stated it offers aircraft servicing for UPS’s aircraft and operates a maintenance center in that city, declined to comment, but stated it would assist completely when investigators approached it.

Services Restart

In the meantime, UPS Worldport operations restarted that evening with its overnight or evening procedure, representative the company official said. The three landing strips at the airport were also open again.

The distribution hub in this location is the organization’s biggest. The center hires more than a large number of workers in the locality, handles numerous flights daily and organizes in excess of 400,000 packages an hour.

Community Support

A candlelight vigil was organized on the night of 6 November by the local Teamsters Union, which acts for employees at the Louisville airport, the firm’s largest freight center.

Teamsters Local 89, which stands for employees, commenced the gathering with a period of reflection at 5.14pm, the approximate hour of the crash before.

“This incident was so unexpected, so unforeseen,” the official told the crowd of attendees. “No one had a opportunity to bid farewell to any one of those who we have lost.”
